Kittehs

February 27th, 2008

I love cats. I think they’re cute and wonderful and just about the most perfect animal in the world. Sadly, we can’t own one though because my husband, who also loves cats, is very allergic to them. We had two a few years ago, but had to give them up because he couldn’t function with all the fur flying day in and day out. It broke my heart to give them up, but it was worse seeing him miserable and all sneezy and sinus-y. I often wonder what happened to sweet Betty and little Rufus. Here’s a picture for you all to enjoy… click on it to take in all the fuzzy glory.

Aw, aren’t they adorable? They were less adorable at 5 am when they’d start meowing or when Rufus would drop a stink bomb in the litter that would kill a large rhino. Still, they were my babies and I loved them. Here’s to you, Betty and Rufus, where ever you are. I wish you lots of sunshiny naps and too many jingly toys to count.

Those look like smaller versions of 2 of the Kittehs that we have. We recently took on another from a friend who moved out of the US, so now we have three. I think 2 kittehs is a good number. Three seems to be on the edge of manageability…any more than that and you are in danger of becoming one of those “crazy cat people” that you see on the morning news :)

I like both cats and dogs, for different reasons. Dogs I like because of their intelligence, loyalty, and eagerness to please and have fun. Usually the owner is the center of a dogs world.

I like cats because they are soft, curious, playful, graceful and usually have distinct personalities. With dogs it can take as little as a sneeze to get a tail wag out of them…cats are aloof and are like “meh” if they don’t like you, and they are affectionate on their terms only. Cats seem usually lost and busy in their own world, and if you are lucky they will bestow you some time to distract them for a bit.

This is why I’m always chasing your poor cats around the house whenever we come over to play cards. Gotta get my time in while I can. :) Thanks for your comment(s), I really appreciate your point of view.

    About

My name is Shari, I'm almost 30 and finally I feel "old enough". No kids, just a great husband who is different from me in just enough ways to keep it interesting. We have some lovely pet fish, but reading through just a few posts will reveal that I'm obsessed with all things kitty related. What else? Born in the midwest, raised from age 6 out here in the Southwest, I love all things old fashioned, but I can't go a day without my google reader.
