I know not everyone likes Barbie and what she stands for, but I do. I think this is a great idea and if I had a Barbie I would so be on my way down there. Dressed up as a princess. You know, like every Saturday.
Recycle Barbies for a Good Cause
by The Arizona Republic
Families with little girls are invited to bring previously loved Barbie dolls to Walmart stores from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Valley for a special one-day Barbie Cares event.
For every doll received, Barbie will donate a new doll to a local children’s hospital. Up to 100,000 new Barbies will be donated to children’s hospitals across the nation. This Barbie Cares event is the latest Barbie initiative to explore toy recyclability and a fun way for families to contribute to a more sustainable future. Girls will also be able to meet Barbie herself in select Walmart toy departments.
Participating Walmart stores include 4747 E. Cactus Road and 2501 W. Happy Valley Road, both in Phoenix; 15355 N. Northsight Blvd. Scottsdale; 21655 N. Lake Pleasant Parkway, Peoria.;5605 W. Northern Ave. and 18551 N. 83rd Ave. both in Glendale; and 1380 W. Elliot Road in Tempe.
Customers are encouraged to bring a digital camera and dress their girls in princess attire to take pictures with Barbie. Attendees will be given a coupon for a free photo. Other Barbie-themed giveaways will also take place, while supplies last.
